A grant is financial aid that does not have to be paid back. Grants can come from federal, state or university funds to undergraduate students who demonstrate a high financial need. Grants may include:
Federal
- Federal Pell Grant: Offered through the Department of Education (need-based)
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG): Administered directly by Ohio State’s Student Financial Aid (need-based)
- Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant
- Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grants
State of Ohio
- Ohio College Opportunity Grant: Offered by the Ohio Department of Higher Education to Ohio residents (need-based)
- Second Chance Grant Program: $2,000, one-time grant available to disenrolled Ohio resident students wishing to re-enroll at a qualifying Ohio institution
- Other state grants that are offered to Ohio residents through the state of Ohio
